ABOUT US / HISTORY

Genisa Iron Inc. Started business in 2010 by the husband-and-wife team of Daniel Martinez and Gladis Martinez. From humble first year sales of $45,000.00 Genisa quickly grew and surpassed that to be a million dollar a year plus company whose sweet spot are jobs in the $500, 000 to $2,500,000 range.

With our commitment to providing our clients a high-quality product while working safely our goal is continued growth offering opportunity for both individuals and the team. Being blessed to have dedicated employees and experienced professionals at all levels. We are ready and prepared for that growth.

                                                                  

Luz Gladis Martinez President –   Daniel Martinez Executive Vice-President

Genisa Iron is led by the senior management of Gladis Martinez and Daniel Martinez.

Gladis Martinez has been at the helm of Genisa Iron for over ten years. Gladis is responsible for the financial, administrative teams. She also maintains all company certifications. Her focus is the financial health and growth of Genisa Iron. She left a full-time teaching position to assume the role as president.

Daniel Martinez is a second-generation union ironworker with over 25 years of experience in the industry. From an early age he was exposed to a culture of working hard safely. He graduated from apprentice program from Ironworkers Local 433 in Los Angeles. After working for a few years as journeyman he moved into supervisory roles of ever-increasing responsibility. His dream was to be a business owner and share his passion for iron work. That goal came to fruition in 2010 When Genisa Iron was born. The following are few of the projects that was part of: Disney Concert Hall, Disneyland, Getty Center, LA City Hall remodel and many school and hospital projects.

Both Gladis and Daniel have passion to serve working in the community through their church.

 

Mike Tidelesly – Vice President of Operations

Mike brings over 50 years of experience to Genisa Iron. Originally from Tipton West Mid lands UK, Mike brought his Iron working skills to the US as a young man. Highly respected in the industry he has worked his way up from a Union 433 Iron Worker to Senior Management Teams, working for years as General manager and operations manager in the Southern California erection and fabrication industry. Mike has been award winning amateur body builder and professional dart player.

Martin Castellanos – Field Superintendent – Genisa Iron 7 plus years

Martin joined the Ironworkers local 433 Los Angeles in August 1988. He graduated from the apprenticeship program 3 years later. While he was in the program, he learned the value of hard work and his favorite phrase; “Live by the 5 P’s Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance”. Martins’ list certifications are extensive and lengthy. 

A short list of projects that he worked on a supervised teams follows: Hollywood & Highland, Kodak Theater, The Getty Villa, Palazzo Hotel Casino Las Vegas, Wilshire Grand 73, Cancer Center Santa Barbra, City of hope, Temple City High School, Tao Hollywood, The Dream Hotel, Tropico Apartments Glendale.

Martin was a high school ALL City football player, played in college and semi pro. Now he is a huge USC football fan and Dodger fan as well.

Tom Pico – General Foreman -Genisa Iron 7 plus years

Tom has more than 30 years of iron worker experience, Toms story begins with U.S. army, he ended his service as an E6 Sargent in the Army Special Forces Group. Some of Toms certifications are OSHA 30, OSHA 10 R, O.S.C.A and TWIC, His welding certs are A.W.S. / L.A. City D1.1, D1.4, D1.8 and ASME stainless. Tom is also a certified rigger/F.E.M.A unlimited, crane, gantry and hydro jacking. Tom’s educational experience includes, Bachelor of Science in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, A.S. Fire Science/Fire technology. He also has an A.S. degree in Land Survey Engineering Technology.

J.C. Castellanos – Field Forman – Genisa Iron 6 years

J.C. has over fifteen years of experience in our industry, he has been with Genisa Iron for six years, some of his certifications and training are: OSHA 30, OSHA part R, Qualified rigger, certified scaffold erector, forklift operator in addition he Has a TWIC card is trained and certified on all fire watch policies and procedures as well as lead hazard identification and mitigation. Confined spaces training.

His welding certifications include: LA City and AWS certifications. Manual and automatic processes, D1.8, D1.1, and D1.6 He a graduate of the US Ironworkers apprenticeship and field workers training program, He has an AS degree from Compton Community College

 Mike Grimmes –Field Foreman – Genisa Iron 6 years

Mike has over twenty years of experience as an iron worker and foreman, Mike got his start apprenticing in a fabrication shop going through the apprenticeship program. The bulk of his experience comes from building schools, hospitals, and theme parks. Mike is highly certified with OSHA 30, OSHA part R and has a full deck of welding and rigging certifications. Mike is married and enjoys spending time with wife and two sons. He likes the outdoors, blacksmithing and making knives.

Rudy Grossman – Senior Project Manager – Genisa Iron 5 years

Rudy has over thirty combined years working in the construction industry. He got his start US Navy Seabee’s, he then worked as a detailer for a fabrication shop then owning his own detailing business. In 2010 Rudy made the move to Project Management where he has been ever since working for Genisa Iron since early 2017. Rudy’s education includes an Associates degree in Drafting and Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. He is certified CMIT – CMAA.

For relaxation he loves riding with Harley and his wife.

John “Doc” Hines – Senior Estimator – Genisa Iron

Doc left the U.S. Army Special Forces Group as a 1 st Lieutenant. He then graduated
from college with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree and spent 20 years in practice. After retiring from, he went to work as a forklift driver for a former patient who owned a miscellaneous metals company. He worked his way up through fabrication, field installation and finally Project Management and Estimating, working in estimating for over 20 years. Doc now has almost 30 years of experience in the steel miscellaneous
industry.

Rick Martin – Estimator – Genis Iron

Rick has 20 + years’ experience in the structural/miscellaneous metals industry. Rick has worked his way up from fabrication to erection. He was then given an opportunity to work as a Project Manager. His focus over the 10 years has been Estimating.

 Brandon Batham – Office Manager – Genisa Iron 4 years

Brandon has over a decade of administrative experience in both the private and non-profit sectors. His specialty is human resources but at Genisa he handles our risk management, labor compliance, accounts receivable and all general operations. In his spare time, he is the head coach of the Burbank High School nationally ranked speech and debate teams.

Bruce Coughenour – Director of Business Development & Process Improvements –  Genisa Iron going 2 years

Bruce brings to Genisa over 40 years of experience in construction, construction management, distribution management and business consulting. His management career has always focused on process improvements and team building in the distribution and construction industries. An important step in his management career development was the completion of a two-year program with MAP Management Action Program.

His education and construction career began with the two-year Construction Technology program at Los Angeles Trade Technical College and moved to various JC’s and Cal State Northridge for architecture and business management.

He has been married to his amazing wife Jeannie for 37 years and they have two sons Kyle 33 a computer programmer and software developer, married to Christina, and Conner 29 free-lance photographer/videographer. Bruce believes we were created to serve and to that end for the last 25 years he has pursued those opportunities
